SCLT:The Ride Continues

The Sheridan Community Land Trust invites our community to celebrate the singular U.S. Military Achievement of the 25th Infantry Regiment Bicycle Corps – also known as the Iron Riders.

Join us for a special screening of the soon-to-be-released documentary “The Ride Continues”.  This documentary will air on Nevada PBS this July. This program offers a unique opportunity for a question-and-answer session with special guests Bobby McDonald, 9th and 10th Horse Cavalry Association – Buffalo Soldiers; Kevin Smith, Interpretative Ranger, Missouri State Parks; and Kevin Knapp, SCLT History Program Manager, allowing you to engage directly with these esteemed individuals.

You can join SCLT for the Iron Riders Tour Unveiling on Wednesday, June 19, from 2-4 pm at the Historic Sheridan Inn. This special celebration features reenactors from the 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers. SCLT will unveil a new driving/cycling audio tour that tells the story of the Iron Riders as they rode across Sheridan County in 1897 as part of a 1,900-mile journey from Fort Missoula, Mont., to St. Louis, Mo., known as U.S. Military’s Great Bicycle Experiment.

These events are not just for history enthusiasts but for everyone in our community. We invite you to join us in celebrating our shared history.

The tour was funded by a $50,000 African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund Grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

These events are free to attend and open to everyone. This program has been made possible with partial funding by the Wyoming Humanities Council and the Anne and Scott Nickerson Family Foundation.
