Civic Theatre Guild: The Haunting of Hill House

October 26 – 28, 7:00pm | October 29, 2:00pm | November 2 – 4, 7;00pm

The Civic Theatre Guild will begin its 2023-2024 season with the delightfully suspenseful play, “The Haunting of Hill House.”  The script was adapted for the stage by F. Andrew Leslie, based upon the fan favorite gothic horror novel by Shirley Jackson.  Erin Samantha Hanson is directing the production.

The play centers around a paranormal investigator, Dr. Montague, who has been granted permission to study the remote mansion of Hill House, which has a forbidding and sinister reputation.  Dr. Montague is joined by three strangers, who each have their own connection to supernatural phenomena, and thus have accepted the invitation from Dr. Montague.  Upon experiencing strange occurrences after arriving, the group attempts to communicate with the spirits that may be inhabiting the house, often to terrifying results.

“The Haunting of Hill House” was first published in 1959, and since then has inspired numerous adaptations for radio, TV and film, most recently as a series on Netflix.
