This program is a partnership with Sheridan County School District 2 that enables students at Sheridan Junior High School and the Wright Place to take Shakespeare from page to stage in 12 weeks. Each year, roughly 30 ambitious students start with an abridged script, and they work first to understand the language and story before finally putting the play up on its feet. With Shakespeare, putting a play on its feet often includes staging sword fights, the fancies of trickster fairies, and tragic death scenes.
Production History: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2023); Hamlet (2024); Macbeth (2025).
Students looking to get involved should reach out to Mrs. Heather Bujans. Auditions are held in December just before Winter Break, rehearsals begin in January, and performances take place in mid-April.
